NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Burger King is trying to ease the pain of Bronx residents who are fed up with fans of the movie "Joker" – by giving away Whoppers.

Since the movie opened in October, tourists have been flocking to the South Bronx stairs featured in the film. It's become such a popular spot for pictures that Instagram has officially dubbed the location "Joker Stairs," much to the chagrin of local residents.

In a promotion tied to the release of the film's DVD release on Tuesday, Burger King is giving away one free Whopper to anyone who lives in the Bronx. The promo is redeemable on the delivery app Uber Eats until Sunday with the code KINGSTAIR.

The fast food chain even released a video of the mascot Burger King character dancing on the steps, with the captions, "Dear Bronx, we know clowns can be annoying. But don't worry."

The stairs are between two buildings on Shakespeare Avenue in the Highbridge neighborhood of the Bronx.

"We live in the neighborhood, it's taking up all of our time, we're all being inconvenienced," resident Cathyrine Spencer told the Associated Press in October. "Every day when I come down the stairs, I have to go through a barrage of people."

On Sunday night, Phoenix won a Golden Globe for his performance in the movie.
