They're considering a bill that would ban the little bottles starting in 2023.
Assembly Member Ash Kalra said it's part of an effort to cut down on waste.
"By not offering small bottles of personal care products, hotels, motels, and other lodging establishments can promote a more sustainable business and potentially reduce operating costs," he said. "AB 1162 will take meaningful action to curb single-use plastic consumption in the lodging industry and increase consumer awareness."
The bill is not the first of its kind in California. Santa Cruz County passed a ban on small bottles in hotels last year.
California was also the first state to ban plastic bags back in 2014.
Many hotels have already been moving away from mini-bottles in favor of bulk dispensers. The dispensers are expected to save about 23,000 bottles a year in 140 room hotel.
