TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Gov. Phil Murphy reported on Friday that there were 3,047 new positive cases of coronavirus statewide, bringing the total to 102,196.
"As we cross 100,000, we must keep in mind that there are tens of thousands of New Jerseyans who had tested positive over the past seven weeks and who have beaten COVID-19," Murhpy said.

He also announced that there were another 253 coronavirus-related death statewide.
"Sadly, we must report 253 additional lives lost. We've now lost 5,617 of our blessed New Jerseyans to #COVID19 related complications," the gov. added.
Murphy also reported that in some counties, the spread has "slid backwards."
"We cannot ease up one bit on our social distancing," Murphy warned. "I am not in a position yet to begin reopening our state and jumpstarting our economy. We need to see more progress, and more slowing, before we can begin those considerations."
There are currently 6,847 residents hospitalized for coronavirus, "a decrease from what we've been seeing," Murphy said.
"The 3-day average trend line is generally moving in the right direction, down," the gov. said.
There were also a total of 778 discharges, with the number of discharges exceeding the admittances.
Gov. Murphy signed an executive order Friday that aims to protect renters amid the coronavirus pandemic. The order allows for renters to direct landlords to use their security deposits to pay rent to either make up for shortfalls in rent or pay it in full.
"Today I'm signing an executive order allowing renters to direct their landlords to use their security deposits to pay their rents, whether that be to make up for a shortfall or to pay it in full," Murphy announced.
