NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A pop-up shop for a sneaker collaboration between Adidas and AriZona Iced Tea turned chaotic Thursday morning -- fueled by 99-cent sneakers -- and forced NYPD to shut down the event.
Hundreds of sneaker heads waited in line for hours at 208 Bowery, some lining up since Wednesday night to be able to buy the limited edition sneakers for just 99 cents.
"I walked up as the police were dispersing people cuz they was all fighting!!!" tweeted user @domthuhbalm
AriZona issued an apology via their Twitter acount. "Thanks to our loyal fans that came out to support our partnership with Adidas. Due to overwhelming demand and safety concerns, the NYPD shutdown our pop-up. We sincerely apologize to all our fans that waited in line. We are actively working to remedy the situation." they said.
