NEW YORK (1010 WINS/AP) – Comedian Chris Rock reportedly mocked Jussie Smollett at Saturday's NAACP Image Awards in Los Angeles, wondering "what the hell" the embattled actor was thinking.

"They said, 'No Jussie Smollett jokes,'" Rock said onstage before going on to joke about Smollett, according to USA Today.

"What a waste of light skin. Do you know what I could do with that light skin? That curly hair? My career would be out of here! I'd be running Hollywood," he reportedly said.

"What the hell was he thinking?" Rock said. "You're Jessie from now on (…) You don't even get the 'u' no more. That 'u' was respect. You don't get no respect from me."

Smollett had been nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series but ultimately lost to Jesse Williams from "Grey's Anatomy."

According to multiple reports, Smollett did not attend the show at the Dolby Theatre.

Last week, prosecutors dropped charges that accused Smollett of orchestrating a racist and homophobic attack against himself in February.

The decision by prosecutors drew a swift backlash from critics, including Chicago's mayor and police superintendent. They were outraged that Smollett saw his record wiped clean without offering so much as an apology.

On Saturday, the Rev. Al Sharpton defended Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx, who has been criticized after her office dropped the charges.

Sharpton said: "There is a marked difference between how they reacted to this and how they reacted to the Laquan McDonald case."

He said there was no outrage when video showing a white officer fatally shooting the black teen was withheld.
