NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Actor, director and longtime Republican Clint Eastwood has dropped Donald Trump to support Michael Bloomberg.

Eastwood told the Wall Street Journal that he thinks the former New York mayor is the better option.

“The best thing we could do is just get Mike Bloomberg in there,” Eastwood told the Journal.

Eastwood said he approves of “certain things” Trump has done as president, but also wishes he’d act “in a more genteel way, without tweeting and calling people names. I would personally like for him to not bring himself to that level.”

Before the 2016 election, Eastwood told Esquire that “I’d have to go with Trump,” though he never officially endorsed him.

Eastwood said neither Trump nor Hillary Clinton were his ideal choice. But he said Trump was “onto something” because “secretly everybody’s getting tired of political correctness, kissing up.”

“We’re really in a p—y generation. Everybody’s walking on eggshells,” Eastwood said at the time.

The actor-director made political waves at the 2012 Republican National Convention when he endorsed Mitt Romney and talked to an empty chair that was supposed to represent President Barack Obama.
