NEWARK (1010 WINS) – Gov. Phil Murphy reported Tuesday that New Jersey had 2,887 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the statewide total to 113,856.
He also reported that the current total was reached after duplicate test results from the previous day were removed.
Murphy also reported 402 additional deaths, bringing the statewide coronavirus related fatalities to 6,442.
Murphy added that the number of deaths is not a one-day total, but included deaths which occurred over the weekend and had yet to be counted.
The gov. also announced that the state will be discharging its 1,000th COVID-19 patient today.
"Our economy is going to restart," Murphy declared during his daily briefing. "It's not a matter of if its a matter of when."

On Monday, Gov. Murphy said that the state's stay-at-home order will be extended indefinitely and announced his vision, The Road Back" to restart and put the state on the road to recovery.
"Our priority is to use science, data, and facts to put New Jersey on the road to recovery. In order to restore economic health, we must first promote public health," said Murphy. "These key principles and metrics are critical for giving New Jerseyans confidence that we will re-open our state with our public health protocols firmly in place and our health care system prepared. Restarting New Jersey's economy and returning people to work will be done methodically, strategically, and responsibly."
Murphy said Saturday that the number of people lost in the state were more than the lives lost there in World War I, the Korean War and Vietnam War combined.
"Just to put that in perspective," he said.
Health data from the state showed that hospitalizations are continuing to decline, as are the number of people on ventilators and in the ICU.
