WASHINGTON (1010 WINS) -- There is a wide field pursuing the Democratic nomination for president. If Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) finishes at the head of that pack, he plans to name a woman as his running mate.

Booker has said he'd consider a woman in the past, but he committed to the idea at a Houston forum sponsored by She the People, a national network of women of color.

“Inclusion is not an adornment, it’s not something that just looks for the cameras and the TVs,” he said. “We know from all the research having inclusive teams around any leader is essential for having great teams that are effective and that get things done.”

Booker said his push for more diversity would be evident during his first 100 days in the White House.
