NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Mayor Bill de Blasio on Tuesday unveiled the timeline for the city's free child care program on remote learning days for preschool and K-8 students enrolled in blended learning.
The "Learning Bridges" program would supplement Blended Learning for parents in need of child care on the days they are not learning in-person.
The city will have 30,000 free child care seats available on Sept 21st, according to the mayor.
By the end of October there will be over 70,000 seats and will expand to 100,000 seats by December, he added.
The city will prioritize children of essential workers, homeless students, and public housing, de Blasio said.
Families who previously expressed interest in the program will automatically go into the enrollment process and others can call 311 or visit schools.nyc.gov/learningbridges.
