NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- New York City mayor and presidential hopeful, Bill de Blasio was interrupted by a protester during CNN's town hall on Sunday evening.
The protester yelled at him about the way he handled the Eric Garner case.
In 2014, Garner, an unarmed black man, was killed during an arrest by police officers including Daniel Pantaleo who was fired by the NYPD last week after years of protests and criticism.
Garner was placed in a deadly chokeheold by Pantaleo while attempting to arrest him for selling loose cigarettes on the street.
When de Blasio was asked about the incident during his town hall, he said that Garner “should not have died,” adding, “What we learned immediately after the tragedy of Eric Garner was we had to do pretty much everything differently.”
At that point a woman sitting in the audience began yelling at de Blasio inquiring about the other officers who were at the scene when Garner died.
“What about Lieutenant Bannon? What about Officer Ramos? What about other officers?” she shouted.
The protestor was escorted out by security.
De Blasio did not respond.
