NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Mayor Bill de Blasio and first lady Chirlane McCray joined a large group of pro-choice supporters at Foley Square in Manhattan Tuesday afternoon to protest a recent wave of laws in several states designed to curtail abortions.

"I've got an ally right here by my side who will never stop fighting for our rights," McCray said of her husband, a newly-minted Democratic presidential candidate.

De Blasio spoke of highly of Planned Parenthood, saying, "I want to salute an organization that was started in New York ... Lets us thank, let us embrace, let us praise Planned Parenthood," he said.

He continued,  "New York City respects women, honors the rights of women, but in some other states we see these bans that try and take away rights that were fought for so long. These leaders who think they can turn back the clock. Lets just tell them this: hands off, hands off the bodies of women, hands off the rights of women."
