NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Mayor Bill de Blasio may not publicly be saying if he's running for president yet, but a source tells 1010 WINS reporter Juliet Papa that de Blasio "is moving in that direction."

De Blasio said yesterday he will announce his decision this month -- but according to one report, he will indeed add his name to the ever-expanding group of Democratic presidential candidates.

De Blasio will announce next week that he will run for president, the Daily News reported, citing three unnamed sources with knowledge of his plans.

De Blasio: I'll announce if I'm running for president 'in the month of May'

His birthday is Wednesday, and that may be when he makes the announcement, a source told the newspaper. A different source said the announcement was supposed to be this week but was pushed back.

A spokesman for de Blasio's federal political action committee, Fairness PAC, told 1010 WINS, "no decision has been made."

1010 WINS' Papa has also learned that two top City Hall aides last month moved over to the Fairness PAC to run his exploratory campaign effort.

On Thursday, de Blasio said the announcement will come "in the month of May."

"It's a personal decision, always, in the end," he said. "But it's natural to take into account other factors."

He added, "I have never run for anything without intending to win. And you can look at my track record — I was a underdog in everything I've ever been near."
