CHICAGO (1010 WINS) -- A spokesman for actor Jussie Smollett issued a statement after cops openly questioned the usefulness of phone records from the night he was allegedly attacked in Chicago.

Police called the records 'limited and heavily redacted.' After receiving the records CPD spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said the department might need more information to move forward with the case.
"Detectives may be following up with him to request additional data to corroborate the investigative timeline," he said.
Chicago police have said that if he filed a false report Smollett could find himself facing charges. His representative, Chris Bastardi of Sunshine Sachs, insists his client is a victim.
Statement:
It was over two weeks ago that Smollett told cops two men in masks attacked him while shouting racial and homophobic slurs, but surveillance footage of the incident has not been found. Prior to that Smollett received a threatening letter at the FOX studio in Chicago. The letter was laced with a powdery substance that was likely Tylenol.
Police have released surveillance pictures of two possible persons of interest.
