NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An autopsy found that financier Jeffrey Epstein "sustained multiple breaks in his neck bones", according to the Washington Post.
The findings raised more questions surrounding the mysterious circumstances of his death.
Among the bones broken in found in Epstein's neck was the hyoid bone, which is near the Adam's apple.
This sort of break can occur in those who hang themselves, but experts told the Post that they are more common in victims of homicide by strangulation.
Epstein, 66, was found hanging in his cell by guards on Saturday after a previous suicide attempt in the federal Metropolitan Correctional Center.
Attorney General William P. Barr, described his death as an "apparent suicide." but the chief medical examiner, Barbara Sampson, said the cause of his death would be announced at a later date.
The details leading up to Epstein's death and how the Bureau of Prisons ensure the welfare of such high-profile inmates are still under investigation.
So far, the Bureau of Prisons temporarily reassigned the Metropolitan Correctional Center's warden and the two MCC staff assigned to Epstein's unit who allegedly fell asleep have also been placed on administrative leave.
