NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Rep. Eric Swalwell of California will reportedly announce Monday afternoon that he is dropping out of the race for the Democratic nomination for president.
Swalwell has scheduled a news conference for 4 p.m. at his campaign headquarters in Dublin, Calif.
Based on his fundraising and poll standing, Swalwell might not have made the cut for the second set of debates on July 30 and 31 in Detroit.
Swalwell has been widely panned and his appearance at last month's debate in Miami, at which he seemed to be attack fellow candidate Pete Buttigieg, was also panned.
A major issue of Swalwell's is gun control and safety in schools.
It's three months to the day that Swalwell announced his intention to run that he's bowing out. He announced his candidacy on "The Late Show" with Stephen Colbert on April 8.
