FORT PIERCE, Fla. (1010 WINS) – A Florida man who police say was driving with an open can of beer reportedly told officers that the wind “must have placed” cocaine in his car.
The Smoking Gun reports that Joseph Zak, 37, was pulled over after he rolled by a stop sign in Fort Pierce last month.
When officers came up to his stopped car, police said they saw him trying to hide a 38-ounce can of Budweiser.
A further search of the vehicle turned up a glass crack pipe and a clear baggie containing a substance that “tested positive for crack cocaine,” police said.
“The police or the wind must have placed it there,” Zak reportedly told officers when they asked him about the baggie.
Zak, who has maintained his innocence, faces multiple charges.
It's not the first time someone from Fort Pierce, Florida, blamed the wind after being arrested for cocaine. A woman reportedly did the same last year, telling officers who had pulled her over: "It's a windy day. It must have flown through the window and into my purse."
