ENID, Okla. (1010 WINS) – This isn’t dog bites man, it’s dog shoots woman.
An Oklahoma woman was apparently shot by her golden retriever in Enid, Oklahoma, on Thursday.
Tina Springer and a 79-year-old man she cares for were in her car waiting for a train to pass when police say Fido apparently jumped from the backseat onto the console, firing the man’s .22 caliber handgun.
Police say cloth from the seat covers was apparently wedged into the trigger well, and all it took was for the dog to hit it at the perfect angle, according to the Enid News & Eagle.
The woman suffered a leg wound and was treated at a hospital.
The man said he doesn’t normally carry the gun loaded.
Police haven’t announced any charges against the canine.
