NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A North Carolina grandmother traveling with two grandchildren was arrested at LaGuardia Airport on Monday on weapons charges after TSA officers spotted a loaded gun in her luggage, the federal agency said.
The gun was spotted when her roller-bag suitcase went through a checkpoint x-ray machine.
The TSA said the gun was loaded with bullets, including one in the chamber.
The woman allegedly said she had borrowed the bag and was unaware that there was a gun inside.
This was the sixth firearm caught at LaGuardia checkpoints so far this year, the TSA. Last year, only two guns were detected at the airport.
