NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A group of attackers threw a man to the ground and beat him inside a Bronx subway station before stealing his baseball cap, the NYPD said Sunday.

The 56-year-old man was leaving the Hunts Point Avenue 6-train subway station around 4 p.m. on July 26 when five or six men who appeared to be in their 20s grabbed him from behind, police said.

The group of attackers then threw him to the ground and started punching and kicking him before fleeing with his baseball cap, the NYPD said.

The attack left the 56-year-old man with bruises on his body, police said.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
