NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An arrest has been made in a pepper spray attack in the Bronx, and the same person may be responsible for a similar attack in Manhattan on Friday, according to police.
The NYPD says they are treating the incident as a bias crime because of anti-white statements that victims said were made during the attack and all the victims were white.
37-year-old Thomas Heard, a transgender woman from the Bronx, was taken into custody yesterday afternoon at Crotona Avenue and 187th Street after threatening another woman with a sharp object.
That came hours after police say she kicked a woman and pepper sprayed her boyfriend.
Heard is charged with assault, menacing and harassment as a hate crime, and other charges.
Police also say she had pepper spray and scissors on her when she was arrested.
