
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The New York City area is facing a heat advisory Wednesday and a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 9. p.m. that could produce damaging winds, downpours, hail and even a tornado during the afternoon and evening.
The day will be very warm and humid with an occasional shower and a high temperature of 88 that could feel like almost 100, based on Accuweather’s Realfeel.
A heat advisory is in place for the city and suburbs until 8 p.m. Thursday.
Occasional showers or thunderstorms could erupt during the day through the evening, with the possibility for strong winds and hail.
Wednesday overnight will be very warm and muggy with a low of 73.
Thursday will be hot and humid again, with a high of 90, but Realfeels nearing 100, and a thunderstorm around for the afternoon.
Thursday night could feature a thunderstorm but will be less oppressive with a low of 69.
Friday and Saturday are expected to be cooler with highs in the upper 70s.
