Human bones found buried in NJ home during renovations: officials

TEANECK, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- An investigation is underway after several human bones were located in a residential home in New Jersey during an exterior renovation, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced Thursday.

Police received a call at about the remains found in a front yard located at 139 Van Arsdale Place in Teaneck at approximately 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Deputy Police Chief John Faggello said in a statement.After an initial evaluation, the state anthropologist confirmed that the bones appeared human, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, adding that additional bones have been recovered since Wednesday afternoon.

"The remains recovered so far appear to be old, but an attempt to date them would be premature at this time," the prosecutor’s statement said.An investigation is ongoing as investigators try to find more remains on the property and determine the origin of the bones, a statement from the prosecutor’s office said.The statement added that the owners of the home are not suspected of any foul play.Like 1010 WINS on Facebook and follow @1010WINS on Twitter to get breaking news, traffic, and weather for New York City.
