NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The judge in the federal trial of alleged Mexican drug lord Joaquin Guzman in Brooklyn, was expected to give the jury instructions before deliberations could begin on Monday.

First, he said he wanted to speak privately to the jury regarding a media item from the weekend. He did not specify what item that was, although there was speculation that it may have to do with a report about El Chapo having sex with minors.

Prosecutors say El Chapo is responsible for importing 200 tons of cocaine into the United States, and using violence to protect his turf.

The prosecution called 56 witnesses to make their case, the defense called just one; an FBI agent.

If convicted, El Chapo faces life in prison.
