NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Judge Judy Sheindlin revealed on Monday that her court show "Judge Judy" will come to an end after 25 seasons.
She made the announcement during an interview on the "Ellen" show.
"I’ve had a 25-year-long marriage with CBS, and it’s been successful," she told DeGeneres. "Next year will be our 25th season, silver anniversary, and CBS, I think, sort of felt, they wanted to optimally utilize the repeats of my program, because now they have 25 years of reruns. So what they decided to do was to sell a couple of years’ worth of reruns."
She also revealed that she will launch a new show, called "Judy Justice" that will be coming out a year later, but gave very few other details about it.
"I’m not tired. So ‘Judy Justice’ will be coming out a year later," Sheindlin said. "‘Judge Judy’ you’ll be able to see next year, full year, all new shows. The following couple of years, you should be able to catch all the reruns that are currently carrying Judy, and ‘Judy Justice’ will be going elsewhere. Isn’t that fun?"
"Judge Judy" was the number one first-run syndicated program, averaging 10 million total viewers daily, it is also the highest-rated court program for every season it has been on the air.
The show also received a Daytime Emmy Awards for legal/courtroom program in 2013, 2016 and 2017 and Sheindlin was given the lifetime achievement award at the Daytime Emmys in 2019.
