Judge unseals 'personal' Ghislaine Maxwell records, but lawyers will appeal: report

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A federal judge on Thursday ruled that records containing details about Ghislaine Maxwell's sex life can be unsealed, but gave her lawyers a chance to appeal the decision before they are made public, according to a report.

During a hearing on Thursday, Judge Loretta Preska said the court "finds that any minor embarrassment or annoyance resulting from the disclosure of Miss Maxwell's mostly non-testimony about behavior that has been widely reported in the press is far outweighed by the presumption of public access," the New York Post reported

However, Preska gave Maxwell's attorneys the opportunity to file an emergency motion to contest the ruling, the outlet reported.

One of Maxwell's attorneys, Jeffrey Pagliuca, previously wrote that the documents contain details that are "extremely personal, confidential and subject to considerable abuse by the media."

The documents relate to a deposition Maxwell gave when Jeffrey Epstein victim Virginia Roberts Giuffre sued Maxwell for defamation in 2015, according to the outlet. Giuffre filed the lawsuit after Maxwell claimed Giuffre fabricated her story about being sexually abused by Epstein and Maxwell.

Maxwell was arrested earlier this month on charges that she helped lure and groom at least three girls whom Epstein sexually abused. Her trial is set for July 12, 2021
