Kathryn Garcia resigns from NYC Sanitation Commissioner role, considers run for mayor: report

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — New York City Sanitation Commissioner Kathryn Garcia has stepped down from her role, the Department of Transportation confirmed on Tuesday.

According to the department, her last day is expected to be Sept. 18.

Garcia is also the city’s Food Czar and previously served as interim head of the New York City Housing Authority and is looking into a mayoral run, the New York Times reports.
