
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A tractor trailer was struck by a LIRR train east of Bethpage Wednesday, prompting the temporary suspension of Ronkonkoma Branch service.
Service was restored about 90 minutes after the incident. "Train service has been restored on both tracks through Farmingdale following an incident involving a tractor trailer that was struck by a train," the LIRR tweeted shortly before 7:30 p.m. "Customers can anticipate residual delays averaging 15 minutes as trains operate at reduced speeds through the area."
"A rescue train is en route to transfer customers off the incident train and LIRR personnel are on scene assessing the situation," the LIRR said shortly after 6 p.m.

The LIRR initially tweeted, "The 5:29PM train from Hunterspoint Avenue due Ronkonkoma at 6:45PM has been canceled at Jamaica Station after a tractor-trailer was struck by a train at Merrits Road grade crossing east of Bethpage."
A Nassau County Police Department spokesperson told 1010 WINS there were no injuries.
