NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday announced during his briefing that lower-risk sports such as tennis, soccer, cross country, field hockey, and swimming may practice and play beginning Sept. 21, in all regions.
Of the 62,031 tests reported yesterday, 408 were positive Cuomo said. Total hospitalizations are currently at 482 and 7 COVID fatalities were reported yesterday.
He also announced that Port Authority and NYC H&H will be setting up new testing sites at JFK and LaGuardia airports.
Cuomo also reported a recent uptick in cases and infection rates in Western New York.
According to Cuomo, the increase in cases and infection rates over the past week has been driven by clusters at a steel plant in Erie County and a food processing factory in Chautauqua County.
He also added that new cases at two nursing homes identified by state-mandated testing of staff, pre-hospital procedure screening, and testing of seasonal labor at farms.
