NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Macy's 4th of July Fireworks have a new home this year: the Brooklyn Bridge.
Macy's has released a preview of the opening scene:
The 25-minute display of fireworks -- the country's largest 4th of July pyrotechnic celebration -- will be launched from the Brooklyn Bridge and four barges positioned along the shores of Pier 17 in the Seaport District, Macy's said. The awe-inspiring fireworks will kick off at around 9:20 p.m.
Revelers lining viewing locations are encouraged to enjoy the full Macy's Fireworks experience by tuning in to 1010 WINS at 9:00 p.m. to hear the musical score to which the show is choreographed. 1010 WINS is the official radio station of the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks with anchors Larry Mullins, Sonia Rincon and Dean DeVore hosting the special broadcast.
Susan Tercero, executive producer of Macy's 4th of July Fireworks, said, "We are excited to once again work with our partners in the City of New York to make the iconic Brooklyn Bridge the star of our show. With a barrage of stunning shells and effects launching from its grand span and towers, along with tens of thousands more effects coloring the night from barges on the lower East River, this year's display promises to be a spectacle to remember."
Previously, the fireworks have been stationed at other locations, including higher up the East River near Long Island City, with performances taking place near East 34th Street.
The Brooklyn Bridge was last featured in the show in 2014.
