NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man died after falling off the roof of his Manhattan building during a party he was hosting, police said Friday.

The man, 27, was sitting on the edge of his four-story building on the Upper East Side at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday when he lost balance and fell off the building in front of several witnesses, according to police.

The building was on Second Ave. near E. 81st Street.

His roommate was sitting next to him at the time, officials say.

He was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital, where he died of his injuries, say authorities.

Sources told the Daily News that the man was drunk and was trying to adjust his position, with his feet dangling over the edge of the roof, when he lost his balance.

Police said the building's landlord had allowed tenants to use the roof.
