NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man with a baseball bat beat a stranger over the head in a random attack in the Bronx, police said.
The 34-year-old victim was in front of the Home Depot at the Bronx Terminal Market near Exterior Street on the evening of June 14 when a man with a baseball bat came up to him and bashed him over the head, police said.
The victim told the Daily News that the attacker asked him, "You looking at me? What are you looking at?"
"The next thing I know is pain. I got hit in the head. And I go down," the victim said, adding that he saw blood all over his hand and heard his girlfriend calling out for help.
Police said the man suffered a laceration to his head. He was taken to Lincoln Medical Center in stable condition.
The suspect fled on a mountain bike, according to police.
The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect, baseball bat in hand, on Thursday evening.
