NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A 32-year-old man was reportedly chased through a Brooklyn housing complex Thursday night before he was fatally shot in a parking lot.
Police said Jamel Edmonds was found with gunshot wounds to his chest and head near Park and Marcy avenues at the Marcy Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 6 p.m. Thursday.
He was rushed to Woodhull Hospital but did not survive, police said.
A woman who identified herself as the victim's sister told the Daily News that the attackers "just wanted their 15 minutes of fame."
"He was my brother. He was a good person. Nobody deserves this," she said of her sibling.
Police said no arrests have been made in the shooting and that an investigation is ongoing.
The deadly shooting was among the latest in what has been a summer marred by an uptick in gun violence.
According to the latest NYPD data, there have been 955 shootings with 1,174 people shot so far this year compared to 510 shootings with 602 people shot at this time last year.
