Man and woman arrested for allegedly ripping face masks off Hasidic men in Brooklyn

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- NYPD officers  have arrested a man and woman for allegedly ripping face masks off Hasidic men in Brooklyn. on Sunday night.Ofiicials confirm the two arrestes were made near Bedford Avenue and Ross Street in the Williamsburg section.

The victims were a 29-year-old man, a 33-year-old man and a 34-year-old man, who officials say refused medical attention at the scene.


The suspects also yelled anti-Semitic remarks and comments related to coronavirus, police said.

Authorities charged 46-year-old Clelia Pinho for aggravated harassment and say she also punched an indiviudal in the face.

Police also arrested a man in his 30s from Queens. He was later identified as Paulo Pinho.

New York City based Jewish media outlets posted videos showing large police response and gathered crowds on Sunday night .

"We don't accept bias in New York City. We don't accept hate in any form," Mayor Bill de Blasio said during his daily briefing on Monday morning.

He also noted that the incident is being treated as a hate crime.
