NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Manhattanhenge is back!
On Friday and Saturday, the sunset will line up with Manhattan's street grid, creating a celestial spectacle. For a brief moment, the sun's golden rays illuminate the city's buildings and traffic with an awe-inspiring glow.
OK, here's what you need to know:
WHEN:
Full-Sun Manhattanhenge: Friday, July 12 -- 8:20 PM
Half-Sun Manhattanhenge: Saturday, July 13, 2019 -- 8:21 PM
Remember, Manhattanhenge lasts for only a few minutes at sunset!
WHERE:
According to the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, "For the best views of Manhattanhenge, head to a sidewalk on a major Manhattan cross street that runs from west to east with unobstructed views. Or, visit Hunter's Point South Park in Long Island City! Face west towards the sunset. Don't forget your camera—go further east to get the best shot!"
The department also suggests these locations:
57th Street
42nd Street
34th Street
23rd Street
14th Street
Tudor City Overpass, Manhattan
And arrive early before the sunset and before the crowds!
