SAN DIEGO (1010 WINS) -- Manny Machado has agreed to a deal that will bring him the biggest free-agent contract in American sports history.

Machado and the San Diego Padres have agreed to a 10-year, $300 million contract, ESPN reports.

The two-time Gold Glove third baseman, and four-time All-Star spent time with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Baltimore Orioles in 2018.

Source tell ESPN, the deal with the Padres includes an opt-out after the fifth season.

Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer called Machado a 'generational talent.'

Machado finished 2018 with a career-high .905 OPS, hitting .282, with 107 RBI, and 37 home runs.

In 2008, Alex Rodriguez signed a 10-year, $275 million contract with the Yankees. Giancarlo Stanton's 2014 extension with the Marlins for 13 years and $325 million remains the biggest signing in baseball.
