NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- McDonald's is facing new charges of sexual harassment.
McDonald's has faced similar claims before, but this time the women have legal and labor firepower from the Times' Up Legal Defense Fund, the Fight For $15, and the ACLU.
The groups say the complaints reflect the brutal reality of sexual harassment facing low wage workers and the consequences of reporting it including fewer hours and denial of raises.
“What we’re seeing over and over again in these claims — for these workers, they’re put in a position where you have to put up with the harassment, or you lose the paycheck that’s keeping you in a house or keeping groceries on your table,” Sharyn Tejani, director of the fund said.
Forty percent of female fast food workers say they have experienced workplace harassment, but short statutes of limitations can make litigation difficult.
McDonald's says it's improved its policies on harassment and will be training certain employees.
