GREENWICH, Conn (1010 WINS) -- Legendary WWE interviewer 'Mean' Gene Okerlund has died at the age of 76.

In a statement, the WWE called Okerlund "the most recognizable interviewer in sports-entertainment history."
Okerlund sand the National Anthem at the first WrestleMania in 1985. He also used his voice to provide commentary and host WWE events.
Mean Gene was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2006. Details surrounding his death were not immediately available.
