NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes suffered multiple fractures to his right ankle following an accident Saturday at his ranch in Port St. Lucie, Florida, team general manager Brodie Van Wagenen announced Monday.
"He had a violent fall in which he stepped in a hole and put his leg and foot in a difficult position," Van Wagenen said at a press conference.
Cespedes is currently in NYC being evaluated at the Hospital for Special Surgery.
It is unknown what impact the injuries will have on him playing for the remainder of this year and beyond.
Cespedes, 33, has yet to play this season after undergoing surgery on both heels. He hasn't played since last July. He is in the third season of a four-year, $110 million contract.
