NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Businesses in the Mid-Hudson Region are gearing up for Phase 1 of reopening the economy on Tuesday.
Under Phase 1, businesses including construction, manufacturing, wholesale trade, and agriculture can reopen.
Retail will also reopen but is limited to curbside or in-store pickup or drop off.
Phase 1 is expected to last about two weeks before heading into the start of Phase 2.
The Mid-Hudson Region comprises Ulster, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan and Westchester counties.Long Island is set to reopen on Wednesday and the LIRR is adding more cars to allow riders to social distance.
Both the LIRR and Metro North will require masks, and will be increasing cleaning efforts.
"If they're not smart the numbers will go up and you'll have to slow down reopening," Cuomo said Monday. "That's what you're seeing around the country by the way. Our numbers are going down. The rest of the country is going up."
Mayor Bill de Blasio previously said he expects New York City to begin Phase 1 of reopening in early June.
