NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Vice President Mike Pence will oversee the US government's response to coronavirus, President Donald Trump announced at a press conference Wednesday.

"Mike will report back to me, but he's got a certain talent for this," Trump said.

Trump also said the U.S. would spend 'whatever' it takes to combat coronavirus.

Pence said extra personnel would be brought in to the White House for 'this whole of government response.'

The vice president will be working with the government's top health authorities, and Trump's earlier-appointed coronavirus task force, to oversee the response.

Still, Trump said the risk to the U.S. from the virus "remains very low" but if it were to escalate, "We're very, very ready for this, for anything," even if it's "a breakout of larger proportions."
