LINCROFT, NJ (1010 WINS) It's a bird. It's a plane. No, it's a dog! The Monmouth County SPCA is celebrating the 25th anniversary of their annual Dog Walk and Pet Fair with a comic-con themed event "My Dog is A Superhero".

"Working at a shelter and having tons of homeless animals come in, we are certainly championing for the underdog, and we think that every dog is a superhero," MCSPCA Director of Development Barbara Lovell-Napoli told 1010 WINS. "Certainly people who come to adopt rather than go purchase an animal are superheroes in our book."

Entertainment will also feature the professional 'World Famous Dis-Connected K9's Frisbee Dog Team', with performances at 10:30, 12:30 and 2:30.  In addition, 'Walking with Peety' author Eric O'Grey will be telling his inspirational story of recovery, redemption and the shelter dog who wouldn't let him quit.  He'll also be signing books.

Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 day of for guests with dogs and $5 for those without a furry friend.

All proceeds will go toward caring for the many animals that come through the Monmouth SPCA shelter each year. The MCSPCA was founded in 1945 and is located at 260 Wall Street in Eatontown, New Jersey.  Adoption Center hours are Mon 12n-5pm, closed Tuesday, Wed/Thur/Fri 12n-7pm, Sat/Sun 12n-5pm.  Check out their available animals HERE.
