New Jersey reports 346 new COVID-19 cases, 5 new deaths

TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Gov. Phil Murphy reported 346 new COVID-19 cases and five new deaths on Tuesday, a day after announcing that schools across New Jersey are cleared to reopen to students if they decide to do so.

Tuesday's new cases and deaths bring New Jersey's case total to 190,021 and its death toll to 14,124, Murphy tweeted.

As of Monday night, 432 people in the state were hospitalized with confirmed or probable COVID-19 cases, 78 of whom were in intensive care units and 30 of whom were on ventilators, the state's COVID-19 tracker shows.

On Monday, Murphy gave every school in New Jersey the green light to reopen to students, with safety precautions in place, but noted that at least 180 school districts have decided to start the year with remote learning.
