NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The publisher of The Wall Street Journal and The New York Post is preparing to launch a news aggregation service -- as a website and an app --cleverly called Knewz.com, News Corp. confirmed.

The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday, citing unnamed sources, first reported about the news service.

A News Corp. spokesperson told the Wall Street Journal that Knewz.com would show a "wide spectrum of news and views, from local, niche and national sources, without bent or bias."

News Corp.'s latest media property will be a website and a mobile app, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Knewz.com may be launched later this year, but for now, a small group of News Corp. executives are previewing an early version.

The news service will draw upon hundreds of sources, including The New York Times, Washington Post, NBC News as well as outlets deemed to have a particular political bent, such as conservative outlets the Daily Wire, the Daily Caller, the Washington Free Beacon and the Washington Examiner.

The service will use both algorithmic recommendations and human curation, and a staff is already in place, anchored by an editor-in-chief, as well as a handful of other editorial staffers.

The articles on Knews.com will link directly to the news outlets it features.

"The project aims to give exposure to smaller outlets that News Corp. executives believe are often demoted in Google's search results and Facebook Inc.'s social feed," according to the report.
