Connecticut has first coronavirus death; 28 new cases reported

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Coronavirus has claimed its first victim in Connecticut.

The victim was a man in his 80s who was being treated at Danbury Hospital.

"It is with sadness today that we are confirming the first death of a person in Connecticut due to severe complications from COVID-19," Gov. Ned Lamont said.

There were 28 new cases in Connecticut since Tuesday, Lamont said, bringing the statewide total to 96.

Lamont also acknowledged "the dedicated professionals from hospitals and medical centers throughout our state who continue to work on the front lines and treat patients, in addition to all of the support staff who are providing critical assistance through this trying time."
