NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A diehard fan is suing the New York Mets over a "fan feature."
According to a report in the Daily News, 54-year-old Alex Swanson says he was knocked unconscious and nearly blinded when he was hit by a t-shirt fired from a cannon at Citi Field.
The lawsuit claims the t-shirt smashed Swanson in the eye, knocked him off his feet and left him with serious eye damage - including a nearly-dangling retina.
Swanson says it all happened when he was with his three sons during a Mets shutdown against the San Francisco Giants this summer.
A CAT scan found that Swanson had suffered a concussion and severe eye trauma, according to his lawyers.
Swanson said the Mets offered him free tickets to a future game but added that's not enough. He says the t-shirt cannons are a hazard and wants the team to stop using them.
1010 WINS has reached out to the team for a response.
