Snoopy News: Beloved beagle back for Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Snoopy is back!

The beloved Beagle is returning to the 93rd Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. He'll be in a spacesuit on a float with two NASA astronauts to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.

Susan Tersero, executive producer of the event, told 1010 WINS Sponge Bob SquarePants will be coming back for his 20th birthday this year as well as his third year as a balloon.

There will also be a Green Eggs and Ham balloon as well as Smokey Bear at the parade which takes place on Nov. 28.

The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade began in 1924 and runs 46 blocks from the west side of Central Park to Macy's flagship store in midtown Manhattan.

It is one of the world's largest parades and features about 8,000 marchers, including high school bands from across the country and two dozen floats, culminating with the arrival of Santa Claus.

Stars from Broadway, TV and music also perform every year at the parade which is broadcast on NBC.
