NJ man accused of raping woman at knife-point sought by police

RAHWAY N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A New Jersey man is sought by police who said Wednesday, he raped a woman at knife-point at his Union County home after meeting her at New York’s Penn Station.

Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo said Wilfredo"Will" Jose Gonzalez, 34, from Rahway, is charged with first-degree armed aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, third-degree aggravated assault, and third-degree possession of a knife for an unlawful purpose.According to Union County Assistant Prosecutor Meghan Tomlinson, who is prosecuting the case, an investigation by the Rahway Police Department and the Special Victims Unit shows that after meeting in New York City's Penn Station early Sunday, October 13, they traveled to his Rahway home via train, .Shortly after arriving at the suspect's home, investigators say Gonzalez allegedly produced a knife, threatening her with it, and proceeded to repeatedly physically and sexually assault her.

The victim managed to escape the location and traveled to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries, Tomlinson said.Criminal charges were filed against Gonzalez, who remains at large, October 17.

Gonzalez is described as approximately 5-foot-8, 160-pounds with a tan complexion, long black hair, a small bald spot on the back of his head, He also has a short black beard, and thick eyebrows.

Police say he is known to frequent the areas of downtown Rahway, the Bronx in New York City, and Sunrise, Florida. On the night of the assault, he is known to have been carrying a large bag containing clothing, and wearing a black North Face baseball cap."In light of the violent and predatory nature of this crime, we believe this defendant presents a clear danger to others," Prosecutor Ruotolo said. "Therefore, we are seeking the public's assistance in locating and capturing him."Anyone with information is urged to contact Prosecutor's Office Sgt.
