Officials said the Wawa on Old Bridge Turnpike in South River was immediately closed Friday evening after management learned that an employee had tested positive.
The location was thoroughly cleaned, sanitized and disinfected by a professional company, and all opened or exposed food was discarded, according to South River police.
Wawa management worked with the Department of Health to determine other employees who were in contact with the infected worker. They are quarantining for 14 days, officials said.
The Wawa has since reopened with staffing from other locations after approval of the Board of Health.
