NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- According to the NTSB's preliminary report into the Jan. 26 helicopter crash that killed Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven others, there was no evidence of engine failure based on an examination of the wreckage.

The NTSB report (below), released Friday, said it appears the engine was working at the time of the crash because there was a cut tree branch at the crash scene.

The chopper's instrument panel was completely destroyed in the wreckage.

The main wreckage was 127 feet from the impact site -- that is where investigators found both engines, the fuselage, and portions of the cockpit instrument panel.

There will be a final report in about a year.
