NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- New Jersey is the least patriotic state in the U.S. — and New York is only slightly more so, a new study claims.
A WalletHub study released on Monday ranked New Jersey as the 50th most patriotic state in the country.
New York placed 49th on the list, while California, Texas and West Virginia clinched the 48th, 47th and 46th spots, respectively.
New Hampshire topped the list as the most patriotic state, followed by Wyoming, Idaho, Alaska, Maryland and Utah.
WalletHub “compared the 50 states across two key dimensions, ‘Military Engagement’ and ‘Civic Engagement,’ to reach its conclusions," the site said.
The site then used “13 relevant metrics,” including “Average Military Enlistees per 1,000 Civilian Adults Between 2013 & 2018 (No Prior Service), “Veterans per 1,000 Civilian Adults” and “Share of Adults Who Voted in 2016 Presidential Election” to evaluate those two dimensions.
Patriotism “can be a complex subject, depending on who’s involved in the discussion,” the site notes.
